Abstract In this paper we have proposed a channel model which allows to explore the process of development of bottom waves with regard for the stochastic perturbation of the flow. The effect of hydrodynamic flow parameters on the process of formation and development of bottom waves is studied. The comparison of the results obtained by using the model with the field data shows good qualitative and quantitative statuses of the model wave formation.
